States
Capturing mental states Mental injuries have a unique expression in brainwave patterns. Advanced technologies allow us to identify these subtle patterns, which affect the mental states experienced by those who struggle with mental health. And so, we can look at mental states as a continuous range of brain patterns, and not merely defined behavioral patterns, as they are commonly perceived today. The project sets out to highlight the perception that we are all on the mental health continuum, and to ask: What is the place of people who struggle with mental health in our mind? The hat was designed for people who struggle with mental health issues and tries to give a glimpse into those hidden patterns, and through the processing of brain waves to translate them into a unique and private language. With the hat, I wanted to make space for mental struggles in the public sphere, while maintaining the privacy of the content and providing clarity for the individual with mental disorder and their environment.
