Malisha square dress

This project deals with emotional states of mind related to my childhood and specifically to my parents’ divorce when I was four years old. other things, I had researched methods of camouflage, concealment, and obscuring for surviving in nature, in social and mental-emotional contexts. a collection of dresses whose design was inspired by a dress from my childhood which I am wearing in many photographs in a family photo album (it was an A-line dress, or, as I used to call it in my childhood, a “square dress”). The clothing sets consist of layers that fit together into whole items. This is much like the complex look that emerges from my point of view today – as an adult – about the girl I was once. The colorful patterns are characterized by the pink and purple of my childhood world. The patterns are based on paintings I have painted while inspired by significant transition points in my life; therefore, the nets I have combined between the layers of clothing symbolize the blurred, painful memories and the network of defenses that I have covered myself with over the years.
