Looking For a Place
This project was born from an insatiable urge for adventures and travels and a desire to get to know my immediate and distant surroundings. The world fills me with inspiration, I step out with my camera and collect pieces of reality from diverse locations: photographs of landscapes, cities, people and interiors. The pictures’ style ranges from documentary to poetic and attempts to highlight a sensitivity that often gets lost in traditional documentary photography. I am drawn to environments with new kinds of laws — marginal spaces situated at the edges of our everyday gaze; places that try to "disguise themselves" into distant regions, far away from the local landscape — yet once they come into contact with reality, the fantasy falls apart in moving ways. In the post-photographic process, I edit my images so as to produce a montage of alternative and sometimes fictional readings, following the principle of a puzzle. I choose images of different types and environments and I sequence them according to the inner logic they invoke. Thus I uncover hidden elements in the photographs and create a new environment and atmosphere that arouse thoughts, memories and emotions, both private and collective.
