Home, дом
Somewhere between the pleasures and frustrations that underlie my relations to both my partner and the domestic space, situations arise where something seems to get off track. The familiar and the well-known lose their grip on reality and disconnect from their usual context. These are the moments I choose to photograph. Staring at length, I photograph in a simple and direct manner expressions of intimacy and tenderness against fragility. The project combines direct photographs captured with random cameras and meticulously planned photographs, painstakingly constructed to reproduce an appearance or a memory. These images allow me to look out from the inside of the house. From my position in-between interior and exterior, I create a photographic world that is both static and full of occurrences. Light and its absence form the departure point of this investigation, in direct correlation with my ambivalent feelings toward the concept of “home”. The power of the images does not lie in a solitary photograph, but rather in their combination into visual sentences brought together by an internal logic. Both in their form and content, these disparate images produce and reaffirm the story of their own complex relationships. Distortion and contradiction, but also their full acceptance, become part of the viewing experience.
