Forming Outlines : Across the Jordan Valley
On the eastern borders of the country, there have been different connection attempts; cultural, political, geographic and commercial. And attempts to cut to, among those attempts were: The Hejaz Railway project, 1905 (connect). The Night Bridges campaign 1946 (cut). The Peace Treaty of Wadi Araba 1994 (connect). Attempts were made in the Jordan valley area however today we find that the Jordan valley is affected by the political situation, represented by the Jordan river. The two banks of the Jordan river have been developed differently, each bank had its own way in terms of viewing the Urban planning and its indifferences. In this Project: I’m trying to understand the region in several ways: and find out the similarities and differences, within the aim of reconnecting again, by creating a medium to” link in”. Including landmarks that I have marked in different towns inside and outside the ring. And I go deeper and plan around those landmarks including: First (The North-West part): 1. The Ottoman Bridge, The British -Mameluke Bridge, Kibbutz Gesher. Plan a mini loop on agricultural fields and natural reserves, and to add various new programs that depend in Tourism and agriculture around them. Second (The Eastern Southern part). 2. The Shrine of Amer Bin Waqqas, Waqqas town. Longitudinal sector planning in the western part of the town, including programs that meet the needs of the future residents. Planning an architectural scale adjacent to the Mosque and the Shrine, mostly public programs that support the religious tourism in the town.
