The project’s starting point was a material that is very present in our everyday lives: textile. When you think of textile, you think of two-dimensionality, but when you really delve into it, you realize that textile is made entirely of a three-dimensional structure of wrap and weft or intertwining stitches. The thought of textile as a structure that incorporates small structures in a certain order led to this project – after all, a structure can also be moved, spaced, and compressed. I created structural elements, connected to form a textile with cold seamless connections, allowing me freedom in assembling different patterns. With the help of the structural elements, I create different densities and spacings in the bolt of fabric, and thus operate in the range between a tiny 3D structure and a wide 2D manifestation.
