You are moving into one narrative among a web of narratives. In this narrative, you, the viewer, are taken on a journey, just as the collaborative artist, The Peninas, went on a journey. Their journey was an international and interpersonal one. Yours is an interactive one. We invite you to navigate through the stories of this space and encounter its depths. On the surface you will hear of a story – a fact – of The Peninas’ journey crossing the Mediterranean Sea on a messianic mission to elevate a sculpture to Jerusalem.Beyond that, you will hear of another journey of elevating a sculpture, but this parallel journey takes place somewhere non-existent, in a nowhere landscape, with characters that exist only within themselves. This is the film The Banished Whore.You will come across a documentary as well, in which the artists Penina Shtauber and Penina Simkovitz reflect, among themselves and with guests, upon their own journey and upon creating their collaborative character, The Peninas. And you personally will also go on a journey with a sculpture, by encountering it and being elevated through it. We invite you to come inside.
